I obtained the game through Steam with a valid card, so I have no idea why it is not authenticating. I tested another game in my library to make sure the issue was not affecting all my games, and the other game worked just fine. I uninstalled the game with a heavy heart, knowing I would have to play through the nerve-wracking Blast Pit creature thingy again. Again, it would not open, and the same error message appeared.
